I am a first year PhD student at the University of Warwick supervised by Dr Gary Bending (University of Warwick) and Niall McNamara (Lancaster CEH). My project is entitled ‘Characterising the functional role of mycorrhizal fungi in bioenergy cropping systems’. The main objectives of this study are: 1) how diversity and spatial distribution of AM fungi can very over a whole growing year, 2) to design functional primers of phosphate uptake, 3) relate P to Carbon exchange between the symbiotic pair. This forms a component of Work Package 2 of the NERC funded Carbo-BioCrop project consortium.
