Carbo BioCrop Annual meeting in Edinburgh 20th-21st January 2014

Mar 13, 2014

Carbo Biocrop partners gathered from across the UK last month to meet in Edinburgh at the UK Biochar Research Facility to share findings and ideas at the annual meeting. Hosted by the Biochar research team led by Saran Sohi who had the impeccable timing of becoming a father on the first day of the meeting, attendees were treated to a tour of the labs and three pyrolysis rigs, the CHARCHIVE, a set of riveting talks, an outstanding restaurant and a luxurious meeting room. Entering the final year of CBC the flow of ideas was plentiful with all deliverables entering their final stages. We heard talks from Rothamsted Research, University of Southampton, University of Edinburgh, CEH Lancaster, IBERS at University of Aberystwyth and University of Warwick. Contents of the meeting ranged from database assembly to experimental analysis to computer model development and proof of concept.

In the last year of the project CBC will be publishing findings to reach a wide audience, holding two stakeholder meetings, and will be involved in meetings in Dublin, Manchester and Southampton. Indeed if you are an early career biomass researcher interested on hearing about some of our work or looking to share yours, why not join us at the 3rd Annual Early Career Biomass Network Symposium on 22nd and 23rd April 2014 at the University of Southampton (email for more details).

Finally we would like to thank Saran Sohi, Ondrej Masek, Andrew Cross and Gary McClean for such a great job at hosting the CBC Annual Meeting.
